Famed Broadway actor Aaron Lazar needs fans’ help. Aaron, best known for The Light in the Piazza, A Little Night Music, The Last Ship, and Les Misérables, faced a devastating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis diagnosis in 2002. Four years later, his family reached out for help funding Aaron’s mounting medical expenses and to support his two teenage sons.

“There is currently no cure for ALS. Most people would see this diagnosis and its burdens as the end of a dream. Yet Aaron has chosen a different path, dedicating himself to what he calls ‘The Impossible Dream,’ his commitment to living with hope, determination, faith, and love,” the GoFundMe reads.
Aaron Lazar’s Sons Mean the World to Him
Though he built a promising career on Broadway, Aaron Lazar’s most proud accomplishment is his sons. The GoFundMe will not only help Aaron, but also his two boys.
“Aaron has lost the use of his legs, arms, and hands. He requires a BIPAP machine to breathe and a full-time caregiver at his side to help him throughout the day and night. With his increased needs, the cost of full-time caregiving, medical equipment, and specialized therapies has grown to more than $300,000 every year. Aaron’s ability to generate income for his family is severely limited. He needs help to stay in the fight,” the GoFundMe reads.
Loved ones immediately came through to support Aaron and his boys. Even music icon Barry Manilow wanted to help.
“Aaron….I just posted a $10K gift from Barry Manilow. Our love and hope to you and your family. Garry,” a comment reads.
“Aaron has set an incredible example for everyone around him. His positive attitude at a time when most people would say ‘why me?’ has been truly inspiring. When he performed The Impossible Dream at our office he (and his Dad) showed us all how to keep hope alive and support those around us,” a fan wrote. “While the rest of the world is fighting over everything, Aaron is a ray of light, maintaining a positive attitude even in the most difficult times. We love you pal!”
The fundraiser’s brought in more than $300,000 thus far.
