For most people, going to the beach is an exciting and enjoyable experience. However, for many people with disabilities, that is not always the case.

A 2-year-old boy with cerebral palsy named Joey Leathwood was part of that second group that didn’t enjoy going to the beach – until recently.

According to Joey’s mom, Helen Butterfield, Joey used to “hate” the beach due to his sensory issues. Joey doesn’t like the grass, sand, snow, and other environments. His mom even says that sometimes being on a rug makes her boy throw up. But thanks to a nonprofit called Beach Ability Ingoldmells Beach Wheelchairs, Joey was able to go to the beach and enjoy it to the fullest!

A heartwarming video shows little Joey in his special wheelchair, having the time of his life with his dad by his side. Every time a wave would come, Joey would just burst out laughing in the most adorable way.

“He has been through so much and seeing him belly laugh the way he has today has made our year,” Helen wrote.

Joey’s latest experience just goes to show how important it is to have organizations like this one to ensure that all kids can enjoy a day at the beach!
