If looks could kill, Bouche Lee would strike us all down in seconds.
The 2-year-old Brussels griffon has gained an internet following thanks to his hilarious facial expressions. Yet in spite of his “resting grumpy face,” his human said he’s a happy, social young dog!
“He is very sociable and playful. He has a lot of personality and is quite the character,” said his mom, Amanda Jensen of California. “He tends to dish me sassy and grumpy expressions typically when he knows he’s being photographed.”
Amanda has been sharing pictures of Bouche, whom she purchased from a breeder in Oregon back in 2013, on Instagram. They have since gained more than 7,000 followers thanks to his signature side-eye!
His “mischievous and grumpy” look was what first drew Amanda to her beloved pup. Nowadays, people often stop them on the street to comment on his looks, comparing his surly expression to Grumpy Cat (RIP). Other comparisons tend to run more in the “Star Wars” vein.
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, ‘That dog looks like Chewbacca’ or ‘He looks like an Ewok,'” Amanda added.
People often assume that Bouche’s personality matches his facial expressions, but that’s not the case.
“Bouche has a wonderful temperament,” Amanda explained. “He is very sweet and affectionate.” Even better, he’s also a bit of a “mummy’s boy.”
“I’ve often encountered people that assume he’s way older than he is because of his grumpy pout and stately beard,” Amanda added. “I frequently have bearded men tell me that his beard is better than theirs.”
