The Nashville Zoo is home to several hyacinth macaws. Most people are used to seeing the red macaws, but these are a stunning blue. Glory is one of the hyacinths who loves to sing and dance. Musical enrichment helps the birds by encouraging natural behaviors, providing mental exercise, and keeping the parrots engaged. One of parrot’s favorite tunes is Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan.

The bird keepers aren’t exceptionally talented, or even singing in tune (sorry girls), but Glory doesn’t seem to mind. She is bobbing along to the rhythm and enjoying the parody lyrics that include “Blue Parrot Club.” Glory is reportedly pretty vocal, although we’re not sure how developed her vocabulary is. She does like singing and dancing.
The male blue hyacinths at the zoo, Elmo and Pequeño, spend some time preening one another. This social grooming helps them look majestic and builds bonds within the flock.
According to the Nashville Zoo, these macaws can live up to 80 years in captivity. Pequeño is the youngest, at 24 years, while Elmo is the oldest, around 28 years. We couldn’t find a music preference for these two parrots, so we can presume they enjoy music across several genres, including Chappell Roan.
The zoo is home to many different types of animals, including these smaller, brightly colored lorikeets. We don’t know if they’re hearing Dancing Queen by ABBA or if that’s just the soundtrack music, but they certainly enjoy dancing. Well, at least she enjoys dancing. The little male seems to be tolerating her gyrations, not willing to join in the festivities.
