Almost as soon as Sadaya Paige Banks came into this world, the doctors diagnosed her with septo-optic dysplasia, which is a developmental disorder that caused her blindness on both her eyes.
Despite the challenge of being born with this disorder, Sadaya doesn’t let it define her life and what she can and can’t do.
Since Sadaya was a little baby, her mom Dora Chhith has tried to encourage her to be confident and not let her impairment stop her from doing anything. Now, Sadaya is a confident little girl who enjoys living life to the fullest. Whatever she feels like doing, she does it with confidence. And whenever she is faced with a challenge or needs a mood boost she just… chants about it!
“Sadaya always chants “I’m smart. I’m beautiful. I’m confident. I’m independent. And I can do anything I put my mind to,” said Dora.
Now Sadaya and her mom are trying to challenge the stereotypes that surround the blind community to show people that they are just as capable as everyone else – and we are here for it.
Sadaya’s confidence is truly an inspiration. We can totally see why her mom often tells her “she sparkles,” because she really does!
