Blake Shelton Spots 6-Yr-Old Waiting For A Heart Transplant — And Brings Him Onstage!

Blake Shelton and Wyatt McKee

At age 6, Wyatt McKee has already been through more tough times than many grown adults.

He was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, and by the time he was 6 months old he’d already had two surgeries. He’s been on the transplant list for over a year, but one thing that always keeps his spirits up is singing along with his favorite country star, Blake Shelton.

Mom Harley McKee says they listen to Blake’s music all the time, especially “God’s Country,” Wyatt’s favorite song.

“He just came home one day and just kept yelling to play ‘God’s Country, God’s Country,’ and for a couple of years now, anytime we get in the car, we got to play God’s Country all the time,”Harley recalled.

In early January, a friend of the family heard how much Wyatt loves Blake and gifted them a pair of tickets to an upcoming show in Durant, Oklahoma. On the day of the show, Harley helped Wyatt write two signs to hold up during the show. The first sign read: “Your smallest, biggest fan from Lake Texoma, 6 years old waiting on a heart transplant.” The second sign asked if he could sing “God’s Country” with Blake.

Incredibly, Blake spotted the sign during the concert and immediately invited Wyatt up on stage! Reading the first sign, Blake commented, “Think y’all are having a bad day? Put that in perspective right there, man.”

That’s when Blake became more than a singer – he became a dream maker. He and his band struck up “God’s Country,” and Wyatt got to sing along!

“Oh, I mean, I cried,”said Harley. “He got to do something that he really really loved and really wanted to do. It’s a pretty big deal.â€

Blake and Wyatt sounded great, and the crowd showed their support by cheering wildly for the brave little guy. After a few minutes, Blake hugged the child and finished the song on his own, but it’s definitely an experience Wyatt will never forget!

Later, Harley shared video of the duet online and it went viral. “I don’t know if Blake Shelton will ever see this but I just want to let him know he is awesome and officially my favorite person he absolutely made Wyatt’s day thank you so much to him and everyone who stopped us to tell him how great he was on stage and told him they are praying for him!!!” she wrote.

Blake did see the video, replying by tweet, “This little buddy made my night. Thank you for singing ‘God’s Country’ with me Wyatt!”

What an unforgettable experience for this tough little boy! We couldn’t be more grateful for Blake’s kindness and compassion. We’re sending best wishes that Wyatt gets a new heart soon.
