It’s been a rocky road for Big Lots! stores. Hundreds of locations closed across the United States, and the discount chain seemed destined to be part of retail history. But a buyer plans to breathe new life into the once-dying brand and will open more than 130 stores in May. According to a release, Variety Wholesalers had success reopening Big Lots! locations in April and plans to continue.

“We’re excited to bring an additional 132 Big Lots! locations back to life in May,” Lisa Seigies, president and CEO of Variety Wholesalers, said of Big Lots! reopening. “The customer response to the newly expanded assortment of fresh inventory and great deals has been overwhelmingly positive. The Big Lots! stores opening in May show our continued commitment to providing the best value to our customers with apparel for the family, everyday needs for the home, kitchen, and pantry plus a huge selection of famous brands.”
