Beachgoer Captures Stunning Sunrise Footage Of Full Rainbow

View from a distance of a rainbow over the ocean and a beach. The rainbow can only be partially seen in this image.

There’s nothing quite like the experience of witnessing a gorgeous sunrise just after waking up. That said, the experience of witnessing a beautiful rainbow is also just as amazing. But few of us have gotten the chance to witness both at the same time. That’s why Chloe Murphy is oh-so thrilled by the footage she managed to capture while on vacation.

Right from the start, Chloe’s video is something special. That’s because the rainbow she spots is just above the ocean. That’s right, she got to experience both a rainbow and a sunrise while at the beach. But enough discussing how it looked… check it out for yourself in the breathtaking video below!

“I can’t believe your phone captured it,” someone shares in reply to Chloe’s video, another adding, “Nature always give wonders.”

Woman Shares the Breathtaking Experience of Witnessing Both a Rainbow and a Sunrise While Near the Beach

Part of what makes rainbows so special is that they are optical illusions. In turn, they don’t actually exist in a specific spot in the sky. How a rainbow looks varies greatly depending on where you’re standing and where the sun (or other light source) is located. In fact, most of us have never seen a rainbow’s full shape. See for yourself in the video below — hint: it’s not an arch!

That’s right, rainbows are actually full circles! This is something we can’t see from the ground. That’s because, from here, we’re only able to see light reflected by raindrops that are above the horizon. So, if you view one from a plane or tall building, there’s a chance you’ll actually get the full view. That said, you don’t need the full view to see another type of unique rainbow: a super vibrant one!

@accuweather Wow, Philadelphia! 🌈🌈 Now that's a vibrant double rainbow! #rainbow #doublerainbow #philadelphia #philly #rainbowphotography #beautiful #aesthetic #stunning #weather #accuweather ♬ original sound – AccuWeather

In addition to the notable vibrancy, that rainbow is extra special because there are two! But did you know that there actually isn’t a second rainbow there? Rainbows are caused by light reflecting on water droplets. But in the case of double rainbows, the light is reflected twice inside the same raindrop.

In other words, it’s the same light reflected twice! That’s why the rainbow on top is always a bit fainter than the other. Now, after all of that talk of rainbows, is anyone else eager for the next time they see one in person!?
