So, when Steven was given the chance to be involved in the gender reveal of David’s second child, he was all in. There were a few others involved in this heartwarming moment. In addition to Steven there was his wife, Samantha, and David’s wife, Rebekah. Eventually, they landed on a gender reveal that would take place during one of their baseball games.

But here’s the thing… David would not be there. Back in November, he had surgery on his elbow. Ever since then, he’s been in rehab, unable to play again until May at the earliest. Because David always watches their games, however, they knew exactly how to get his attention… see the simple yet sweet way that Dad learned the gender of his baby in the video below.

It’s pretty unusual for a batter to call for a timeout right before they step up to the plate. So, when Steven did that, it made people take notice. So, when he did return, eyes were all on him as he put on a special wristband. The color of this wristband is what mattered the most… it was pink for a girl! Needless to say, this was quite an exciting moment for the Fry family.

Sweet Gender Reveal During a Cleveland Guardians Baseball Game is a Home Run

“He was excited,” Steven said of David’s reaction. “… His whole family was watching. He was hype, so that was really cool.”

As other fans have pointed out, the rules in baseball likely made it difficult for Steven, Samantha, and Rebekah to figure out a way to do the reveal during the game. In the end, however, Samantha’s idea of using a wristband was the perfect solution.

“Just to be able to involve him [was important]. I know that every day the monotony of rehab is so brutal,” Steven said. “I know he watches every single game. So I thought it was a cool way to involve him.”
