Backwards Cyclist Hopes To Receive Guinness World Record After Biking Across Iowa.

This cyclist rides his bike backwards.

When it comes to riding a bicycle, Will Walker knows what he’s doing backward and forward — literally! The Alaskan cyclist recently completed a 500-mile ride across the state of Iowa while sitting on the handlebars of his customized bike. In order to see where he was going, he periodically looked over his shoulder. Will told Alaska’s News Source that the other cyclists participating in Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) thought he was crazy! However, he says he’s been riding this way for around 10 years.

Not only did Will complete RAGBRAI, but he also believes that he set a new world record in doing so! He recently reached out to Guinness World Records with the news of his impressive feat in the hopes of being recognized by the organization. UPI tells us that the current record holder for backwards bicycling is Andrew Hellinga, who rode 209.77 miles.
