Baby Takes First-Ever Steps During WNBA Halftime Baby Crawl Race

A two-photo collage. The first shows a close up of a baby as she starts to get up on her feet. She's on a basketball court. The second image shows an excited mom on her knees. She's reacting to the baby, eyes wide as she cheers her on.

There are certain milestone moments that parents would do nearly anything to get on camera. Their little one taking their very first steps is high on that list. While there are plenty of parents who do manage to capture this exciting moment, there are very few who do so quite like this. On August 3, the WNBA shared a very special moment from a recent game. During halftime, there was a baby crawl race.

The concept of this silly race is simple. A bunch of adorable babies are all lined up and given a single challenge: Crawl across the floor and be the very first one to reach their parent on the other side. While every baby tried their best, one little girl was quick to take the lead. Then, about halfway down the court, she did something unexpected. Check out this monumental moment in the video below!

It’s no surprise that this determined baby’s parents were thrilled by this surprise. But they weren’t the only ones feeling elated! The entire crowd erupted into cheers over this milestone, as did Mom’s fellow competitors. This sweet little girl is going to have one heck of a time with the game “two truths and a lie” when she gets older!

“She’d been standing, but she hadn’t been walking,” Dad says. “She just randomly decided to stand up in the middle of the [court]. Oh my gosh. Was not expecting that.”
