“Baby-sitters Club” Books Are Getting The “Kpop Demon Hunters” Treatment

Baby-sitters Club

For nearly 40 years, generations of girls fell in love with The Baby-sitters Club book series by author Ann M. Martin. We grew to love Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, and Stacey, and learned many life lessons through their adventures. Ann wasn’t afraid to tackle big storylines in the 131 original books published from 1986 to 2000. The Baby-sitters Club launched two television shows and a full-length feature film. Fans wondering what happened since the girls quit babysitting and grew up are about to get an extremely exciting update.

“The Baby-sitters Club” Is Hitting The Stage

Per Deadline, producers will adapt The Baby-sitters Club into a musical with music and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick of Kpop Demon Hunters fame. The story will pick up 12 years after the Baby-sitters Club disbanded, with a pact the girls made to return to Stoneybrook, Connecticut, at age 25. No longer kids, the musical will revisit some of the defining moments of their adolescence.

“I love musicals and am excited to see the adventures of Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, and Stacey come to life on stage. I’m humbled by the ongoing popularity of the series and couldn’t be more thrilled by this news.”

Mark Sonnenblick shared that he is equally excited about the upcoming Baby-Sitters Club musical and wants to create something special for fans, both old and new.

“Though their triumphs and struggles and crushes are evergreen, these are girls of the ’80s and ’90s,” said Sonnenblick. “So the score’s inspired by some of our favorites – Sheryl Crow, Indigo Girls, Shania Twain. We’re just very excited for everyone to hang out with the club in Stoneybrook, whether it’s your first time or your five hundredth.”

According to Deadline, the target audience is multigenerational, and the production hopes to hit the stage in 2027.
