This baby was ready to get a move on!
Mom-to-be Elsa Antunez headed to Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center with her family as soon as she started to feel labor pains.
Elsa made it to the parking garage of Luminis Health when her baby grew impatient. It was time for labor, right there in the car!
Serendipitously, Elsa and her family weren’t alone in the parking garage. Dr. Janelle Cooper, one of Luminis Health’s amazing OB/GYNs, was heading into work.
“As I was walking in, I guess timing was just perfect. Fate and God lined everything up. I heard her screaming in the car and I said, ‘Oh, that sounds like labor and delivery,'” Dr. Janelle recalled.
From there, she jumped into action.
“I dropped my bags and ran over, and when I opened the car door, the baby’s head was already out. So, I did what came naturally as an OB,” she detailed. Dr. Janelle explained she had delivered many babies, but none in this circumstance!
Once Yesenia Patricia was born, the baby and mother transitioned inside the hospital. Both mother and child are healthy, happy, and thankful Dr. Janelle was nearby.
“I’m very grateful you were there because I wouldn’t have known what would happen if you weren’t,” Elsa told Dr. Janelle.
Elsa and Yesinia are safe and sound because of the above and beyond care provided by Dr. Janelle. Sometimes life doesn’t go as we plan but, thankfully, it’s often better than we could’ve imagined.
