Sibling Group Homegrown Blows “The Voice” Judges Away With Perfect Harmonies.

Although “The Voice” used to be limited to solo auditions only, the show now lets artists who fall a little outside that mold take the stage.

Recently, on the Australian offshoot of the talent competition, a trio called Homegrown hit the stage to perform a perfectly harmonized rendition of “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman. The sibling trio, made up of Katelyn, Kasey, and Liam O’Donoghue, pulled off a performance that left the judges feeling pretty speechless.

The siblings, all under 21 at the time, have understandably been singing together since they were very young. Growing up in Queensland, Australia, they got used to singing for crowds large and small when they would travel to festivals and talent competitions, or just perform on the street for passersby.

This season, they took to the stage of “The Voice Australia” to show off their impressive singing skills.

The piece opens with a harmonized a cappella intro before Liam begins playing the guitar, at which point Katelyn starts her solo performance of the first verse. Kasey joins her sister, with a slightly higher range.

The judges are immediately interested and listen intently to how all of the musical pieces fit together. “That’s pretty cool,” an impressed Joe Jonas says.

When Liam adds a solo line to the mix, the judges can’t help themselves and one by one they begin turning their chairs to see the three of them. They all accent each other perfectly.

The show of interest from the judges makes Katelyn choke up a little bit, but neither she nor her siblings miss a beat.

Boy George holds out until the very end, but curiosity gets the best of him, so he turns around and gives the group a well-deserved four-chair turn.

The group ultimately went with the judge who turned his chair first, thus landing them on Joe Jonas’ team!
