“For better, for worse … in sickness and in health, until death do us part.” Andrew made those vows to his wife Theresa almost five decades ago, and he’s kept them close to his heart ever since.
Throughout their many years of marriage, the lovebirds from San Antonio, Texas, have always looked out for one another. So when Theresa suffered a stroke 18 years ago, Andrew stepped up to assist her with anything he could… including helping her look her best!
For Mother’s Day in 2018, their children presented Theresa with a gift certificate to The Foundry Salon in New Braunfels. When she came home, she was thrilled with her new look, only to be let down the next day when she couldn’t replicate it due to her limited mobility.
That’s when Andrew decided he was going to learn how to style his wife’s hair! He took her back to the salon, where stylist Andrea Gomez taught him the entire process from beginning to end.
Another stylist recorded the heartwarming scene as Andrea showed him how to hold a brush, use a blow dryer, and select hair products. He listened carefully the entire time and asked questions, eager to get it right. Meanwhile, Theresa sat back and enjoyed the royal treatment!
Raigen Kelley, one of Andrea’s coworkers, shared the moving video on Facebook, writing, “Proof that true love really exists. … Truly one of the best things I have been able to witness in my life. Brought tears to my eyes. What an amazing man and what a lucky woman.”
Her post quickly went viral, touching the hearts of countless people around the world. Andrew and Theresa were shocked by the attention they received, but they’re glad their story is making such a positive impact.
“This type of story may help some people, may get to them and touch them in a way that they just need to work a little harder with their relationships,” Andrew said. “You gotta just make things happen, instead of just giving up.”
Doing such a simple favor may not seem like a huge deal, but to Theresa, it meant the world. These two are proof that true love exists – and endures!
