Al Roker’s Stepping Into Fancy New Shoes To Host The Met Gala

Al Roker Met Gala

Al Roker has been a mainstay on the Today Show for almost three decades. He gives us our daily dose of weather, his signature smile, and sometimes silly antics. You can always count on all for things like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the annual Rose Parade. This year, he’ll step into some fancy new shoes to take on a totally different hosting gig. Al announced he’s headed for the Met Gala red carpet on Instagram.

“Well, work has begun on getting ready for the Met Gala at the beautiful Metropolitan Museum of Art,” he shared on Instagram. “This year, I’m actually gonna be covering it on the red carpet, talking about ‘Superfine’ Black tailoring and dandyism.”

Al Roker Will Be Standing In For Sheinelle Jones At The Met Gala

Sheinelle Jones typically covers the Met Gaga, but she’s been on extended personal leave since 2024. The Today Show is a tight-knit crew, and they care for each other like family. It’s no surprise Al Roker jumped at the chance to cover the Met Gala and help his friends.

Al wrote in Instagram, “Very excited pinch hit for @sheinelle_o and cover the #redcarpet for the annual @metmuseum @metcostumeinstitute gala Never did it before. The theme and the exhibit is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style based on a book by Professor Monica L. Miller.”

“The Met Gala is a night for stars to shine, and sometimes shock. Will Al dress for the occasion or take it all in? Fans can’t wait to see what happens,” a fan wrote.

This person agreed and knows Al Roker will shine. “The theme is so perfect this year! I know you’ll enjoy it!! Almost as much and I’ll enjoy seeing you on the red carpet!!”

This fan hopes that maybe Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker can take on the Met Gala together sometime.

They shared, “Have fun! Maybe next year you and Sheinelle can do it?!”
