After Being Chained Up For Nearly 20 Yrs, This Blind Cow Is Living Her Best Life!

A large, blind cow lays in the grass with her face toward the sky. It seems as though she is smiling.

For 19 years, the only life this cow knew was one where she was chained up — blind and alone. There weren’t folks around to keep her company or to ensure she was safe, healthy, and happy. Then, the loving staff at Uncle Neil’s Home swooped in and rescued the blind cow. At first, this timid creature was unsure of her new surroundings — after a life spent with those she couldn’t trust, how could she know she was truly safe?

With time and patience, this sweet cow, who was named Helen, realized she was finally in a loving home. After all that Helen the blind cow has been through, her humans are determined to give her the best life possible. This includes finding unique ways to the rescued blind cow her interact with the world.

Because Helen is blind, this cow is especially fond of other sensory experiences, like the sound of wind chimes and music or the feeling of hay or a tree. Most adorably, though, is the way Helen adores to express love for her humans through hugs.

“We wanted to show her we were here to protect her and to love her,” one of her rescuers said. “We did not know that it was possible to love somebody so much … Helen is the most beautiful, loving soul we’ve ever met and, ultimately, she’s taught us to lead with love.”
