A contestant named Vanessa appeared in the May 8th Mother’s Day special and played the new game called “The Lion’s Share.” The game works like this: players guess the prices of grocery store items. If they’re correct, they choose up to five balls with hidden prizes on them. When a prize is revealed, they can either stick with it or continue revealing the prizes. However, they could end up walking away with nothing if they picked the wrong ball.
A Mother Made History on ‘The Price is Right’ Mother’s Day Special
Vanessa risked it all several times during her game, with her daughter cheering from the audience. For her first ball, she chose #13, which gave her $2,500. She knew she could do better, so she chose #21, which came with $25,000—a little harder to give up. The amount was so high that she actually dropped to the floor. Hoping for more, she continued by choosing #25 and won a staggering $100,000.
She prayed that luck was on her side and chose #27 and won another $100,000. At that point, she had one more ball left. That left her with $227,500, so it would have been wise to just leave with the massive sum. But she wasn’t ready to stop winning, so she chose another ball, #8, and she won a mother-daughter trip to Morocco worth $12,650. That brought her total winnings to $240,150.
The sweetest part of the story is that Vanessa decided to risk it all because the last two balls available were her daughter’s birthday numbers.
Until Vanessa’s amazing game, the previous record was $210,000, which was set in 2016 during a game of Cliffhangers.
