When it comes to cooking delicious burgers, Kevin Ford is a pro. He’s been working at Burger King for 27 years without missing a single day — and that’s on top of being a dad to four daughters. However, when it was time for the chain to reward Kevin for his hard work, all he received was a goody bag with candy and other inexpensive items inside. He didn’t complain, but his kids thought he was being underappreciated.

“I was grateful to get anything. The day before that they gave me a chocolate cake and I was happy with the chocolate cake,” said Kevin, according to NewsNation. “A lot of people that work with me for 30 years, didn’t get anything, so I was happy.”
A video of Kevin opening the gift bag was shared on TikTok, where it received hundreds of comments from incensed viewers telling Burger King to “do better.” Others commended the employee for his positive attitude.
One of Kevin’s daughters, Seryna, decided to start a GoFundMe for her dad, since there were already so many people invested in his story. So far, she’s raised over $430K!
“He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes, he has never missed a day of work,” she wrote in the description. “He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago.”
She continued, “My dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement.”
The New York Post tells us that Kevin knew what he was going to do with the money right away. First, he made a trip to Texas to visit his grandchildren. Then, he started saving for retirement. He’s also putting some funds aside to provide for his family’s future.
It’s amazing how the generosity of strangers can transform someone’s life!
