Looking gruff and serious, Tip is off his tractor and standing in the road. He opens by saying, “Good Morning, TikTok.” He explains that he was driving down the road when he “noticed how the sunflowers are really bright this morning. Thought, maybe it would brighten somebody’s day.”

At that point, he turns the camera and pans it slowly across the huge sunflower field, then back again. He explains that the flowers always turn toward the morning sun. The camera turns back to focus on Tip as he says, “Well, have a great day.” It doesn’t get any more wholesome than this farmer.

Sunflowers are an amazing plant. They were originally cultivated as a food source when early Americans ground the seeds into a flour. The seeds have always been a special treat. We extract the oil for cooking, and the stalks have even been used as building materials.

The flower gets its name from the habit of young flowers to turn toward, and follow, the sun. Although yellow sunflowers are the most common, there are also red, orange, white, pink, and purple sunflowers. Sunflowers hold spiritual significance for many cultures. There are unique interpretations of their properties. The one common factor is that every culture views them as beneficial.

Please share if this field of yellow sunflowers made you smile.
