Ducks Play Adorable Game Of Follow The Leader With Feline Friend

Five ducks play follow the leader behind a calico cat.

Kids play follow the leader throughout their childhood. They learn it at a young age, and it requires no ball, no equipment, and has simple rules: Follow the leader and do what they do. If the leader skips, the followers skip. When the leader steps two steps to the left, the followers do the same. Follow the leader is such an easy game that even animals can learn it, like these ducks and their fearless feline leader.

Crystal Taylor has five ducks, two cats, and a corgi. The cats and the corgi have shared the responsibility of raising the little flock of ducks. When they were young, the corgi, Bosco, practiced his herding skills. As they grew older, the ducks began playing follow the leader to accompany the cat on hunting excursions.

The calico cat, Crystal’s most active feline, is the one the ducks play follow the leader with. Her other cat, a ginger tabby, only has one eye and prefers a more sedentary lifestyle. We’re not sure, but we think the ginger is Helen and the calico is Cathy.

The little animal family has developed a routine around the mini farm. One of Bosco’s favorite chores is letting the ducks out every morning. He accompanies Chrystal when she opens the coop to let the ducks out into their pen.

They might be an unlikely group, but these fur balls and feathered followers are truly a family. Even when they’re just “hanging out in the yard,” they are together. The cats and dog seem to feel a responsibility for the ducks and guard them like precious charges. They did raise them, so that’s probably natural.
