Mom’s Colorful Toddler Craft Will Have You Saying “Why Didn’t I Think Of That?”

Image shows colorful butterfly wings that are simple to craft for your toddler.

In every parent group, there’s that one parent that everyone is envious of. She’s the one with all the cool ideas for kid activities and always has the time to do toddler crafts. Everyone wonders how she does it, as she juggles jobs, household chores, and childcare while walking a tightrope. Sarah Balzer might be that mom, but she’s helping others with step-by-step videos.

The talented mom has “It’s a good day to have a good day!” as her TikTok tagline. And if you do this craft with your kids, it will be a bright and colorful day, too! Sarah made the most adorable butterfly wings for her daughters (and there is a tutorial). Look what happens when her girls stand in the sun!

The video went viral because people loved these amazing butterfly wings. While there was some obnoxious behavior in the comments (adults gonna be kids), the biggest request was for a step-by-step tutorial. Sarah responded, and this really is an easy toddler craft. Your toddler will need some help with the cutting. They can help with selecting shapes and colors and assembling the wings.

Sarah begins by explaining that she used a large cardboard box as the base for the wings. Once the wings were cut out, she created holes of different shapes and sizes. Although her children helped select the shape and color of the holes, the parent should do all the cutting. Sarah recommends a box-cutting knife or a similar tool.

Once the holes are cut, she used tape to affix the colored cellophane paper to the back of the wings. The final step is adding elastic straps so the kids can wear their wings.

What an awesome toddler craft.
