Image shows a mom and her son as he explains the lesson she just gave him on how choosing the right people to hang around matters.

Mothers should get a dollar for every “mom lesson” they have taught their children over the years. There would be some wealthy mothers out there! Instead, their children become rich with the knowledge of how to be better humans. It isn’t such a bad trade-off.

To teach her young son that he is who he hangs around with, she uses groups of plants in her local area. Beginning with a group of bushes, she points out that they are all the same. Moving to a different area, she points out a grouping of orange and yellow plants. Introducing a third type of plant, she again points out that they are all the same.

Back in the car, she explains that each group of plants is grown the same way, and they look just like all the other plants in that grouping. Simplifying the mom message, she tells Bray that they all look similar because they are around each other. She smoothly shifts the lesson to who her son hangs around with.

She starts by reminding him that he needs to be careful of who he hangs around. Continuing, she tells him that he’ll end up talking like them, doing the things they do, and start thinking like them. She talks about adopting their habits and behaviors.

Finishing The Mom Lesson With Examples And Discussion

GeeGee elaborates with several examples to make sure that Bray understands this mom lesson. The two discuss the concepts, with Bray taking an active role in the communication.

During the last 45 seconds, Bray summarizes what he learned. He is well-articulated and mentioned the plant groupings and how they correlate to human interactions. It is easy to see that his mom is teaching him well.
