Cat Uses Talking Buttons To Express His Utter Disgust With Mom For “Abandoning” Him

Images show Puffin the Cat using his talking buttons to say "sick" and "rude" to his mom.

Animals can’t talk. Or can they? Talking buttons were initially designed for people with disabilities. The easy-to-push buttons would be arranged on a static board. Each button “says” a word or phrase, allowing non-verbal people to express thoughts, needs, or converse. The adaptation to placing them on the floor and teaching our pets to communicate was an easy evolution. Now, the internet is full of dog and cat videos featuring opinionated animals using talking buttons.

We’ve told you how opinionated Puffin the Cat is and how he uses his talking buttons to convey his emotions. Other cats, like Prince Louie and Todd, use their buttons to demand tuna treats and get chatty. In the dog world, Sapphie the Pomsky uses her buttons to help soothe her crying human baby brother.

For centuries, humans have babbled away at their pets, thinking they don’t understand. With the addition of cat and dog talking buttons, we are finding out they do understand. Animals can convey emotion, express wants, and tell us their needs. They can express dismay when our actions upset them.

After returning from a trip, Puffin’s mom says, “Hello,” and “Good morning.” Puffin responds, “Sick,” and “Rude.” After a bit of conversation, Puffin adds, “Mad.” The cat is upset. His mom talks calmly to him in a soothing voice, reminding him of good things like cuddles, treats, and that she came home from her trip.

Puffin continues to stare with a disapproving look. Maybe that is his regular expression? He repeats “Sick” and a few more words. Meanwhile, his mom continues trying to make him feel better. Puffin holds a grudge.

Puffin the Cat is pretty amazing. For more videos, follow him on TikTok.
