9 Harrowing Tales Of Shipwreck Survival

6. Lucio Rendon, Salvador Ordonez, and Jesus Eduardo Vivand

Lucio Rendon, Salvador Ordonez, and Jesus Eduardo Vivand and two other fishermen set sail from San Blas Nayarit, Mexico on October 28th 2005 on the hunt for sharks.

They ran out of fuel too far from land to row back to shore and drifted out into the open ocean. The group cut the tops of their gas tanks and washed them out saving nearly 200 gallons of water during a rainstorm.

Using bits of turtle for bait they got pretty good at catching fish and were soon at a healthy weight. Three of the 5 fishermen were rescued by a Taiwanese fishing boat after 9 months at sea.
