5. Expand your child’s circle of concern
Why: Most kids care about their family; teaching them to engage with the school custodian, a neighbor or an elderly woman in a store will increase their ability to care.
How: Do this yourself. Make sure you are engaging others. Give them perspective by telling them certain news stories or global facts. Make sure they know that listening to someone is one of the best ways to show they care about them.
