Love that lasts for the ages is always a beautiful sight. An elderly couple from Birmingham, Alabama is showing the world that true love lasts and it still looks good 50 years later.

Carole-Ann, 71, and Jim Stanfield, 74, decided to celebrate their 50th anniversary by donning their wedding outfits at a party filled with family and friends (some of which were guests at their wedding). The couple’s granddaughter Hayley wanted her grandparents to find their wedding pictures and they ended up also rummaging up their wedding gown and suit.
Hayley begged for them to try them on but they were old and a tad bit smelly.

“She begged and pleaded so we did it for her – we were gobsmacked when we discovered they still fitted perfectly,” said Carole-Ann. “It is amazing we still fit into our original outfits and even more amazing that we still have them.”

They felt like they looked so good in their original wedding clothes that they thought it would be a grand idea to wear them for their 50th-anniversary party so all their friends could see them. It was a hit!
“A lot of people knew we were going to wear them, but they were still stunned to see us in them,”said Carole-Ann. The crowd couldn’t get over how great they looked.

The Stanfield’s met back 1962 in the men’s club where Jim was working.
“Jim loved my big blonde hair and I loved his humor – he is such a comedian and always makes me laugh. I think that’s the key,”said Carole-Ann. “We have very different interests and hobbies, but the laughter is what keeps us strong.â€
