5-Yr-Old Calms Mom During Panic Attack In The Most Heartwarming Way.

A woman sits in a car, taking deep breaths, as her 5 year old helps her calm down. The 5-year-old's hand can be seen, and she's holding up four fingers.

If you’re a parent, you understand how difficult it can be to try and teach your kids how to process their own emotions. Kimberlee Bushman, a Mom of three, recently shared a moment that folks are saying shows that what she’s been doing is working. It all started with a technique used to calm down. Kimberlee first introduced the technique to help Noella, her 5-year-old.

The steps are simple – Mom would hold out her hand, with all five fingers stretched out, and ask Noella to “blow out the candles one at a time.” In doing so, she’d naturally find herself gaining control of her breathing and, in turn, would calm down. Not only does this method help, it stuck with the 5-year -old so much that when Kimberlee began to have a panic attack in the car, she knew exactly what to do.

In a video sharing the moment, Noella can be seen with her hands out, helping her Mom to steady her breathing. She even ends the exercise by asking her Mom if she’s like a hug, an offer she was more than happy to take.
