According to the NATS blog, “European airspace is some of the busiest and most complex anywhere in the world. Every day thousands of air traffic controllers guide millions of passengers safely to their destinations.” This video clearly illuminates this process. And the technology is only getting better.
In contrast, here is a picture of one of the first European commercial airlines, Aircraft Transport and Travel Limited. Their tracking technology: essentially none. Modern aircraft radar did not really exist until WWII. We have come a long way since that point.
