It is common for children to appear to see ghosts. Although it might seem scary to parents, it is not frightening for a child. They haven’t learned to fear the unknown yet, so they accept everything as real. Even when we can’t see it ourselves, it is important to acknowledge what our children might be seeing. When Chy’s daughter Mable Anne saw what she believed was a ghost, it had a message: “Daddy is missing you.”

We are unsure when Mable began seeing it, but she has very clearly identified it as Chy’s father, who passed decades ago in 2002. She calls him “Daddy,” but is very clear to her that he is her mom’s daddy. When he gave her the message, “Daddy is missing you,” the tiny ghost whisperer delivered it matter-of-factly to Chy.
This has been an ongoing thing, and Chy has several videos. She recently edited three videos to create an extended version of them. In the videos, the biggest thing we notice is that Chy never denies what Mable is seeing. During this video, with no lead-in, Chy shows a picture to Mable. She identifies the man in the picture as Chy’s father.
Children may see supernatural things from birth, but can’t convey what they are seeing until they learn to talk. Most documented ghost sightings are by children between 18 and 24 months old. When the Everymom blog asked its readers to submit ghost encounters, it was overwhelmed by the response. Parents shared many experiences of their children seeing spirits. We’re waiting on a follow-up from the Scary Mommy about the red-eyed little girl who sleeps in her house.
Experts recommend acknowledging your child’s ghost sighting without overreacting. Encourage your child to communicate what they see and hear.
