When the first bell rang, the paws were already on the ground. Sally, equipped with a miniature backpack, was there to extend a warm, furry welcome and make re-entry into the classroom a bit less daunting.

You’re probably wondering, what makes Sally more than just a cute distraction? It turns out that she and her handler have undergone serious training to tackle sensitive issues like student anxiety. On her first assignment of the school year, this comfort dog provided solace to a 7th-grader too overwhelmed to step into the building.
