Perspective is everything. We can’t truly appreciate today until we first understand how far we’ve come.   That’s why we put together this list.

Every era in world history has pros and cons. Many will argue a simpler life with no technology lends to great happiness. Some say an agrarian society slowed the pace of life and focused on the importance of family. Life 100 years ago promoted more physical activity outside. Every era could potentially be seen as great.

But the period of history in which we currently live is arguably the greatest. Based on the comparative past, it is truly incredible for us to be alive right now.

With that said, here are 15 reasons to be thankful that you are alive today. It is a truly special time, so enjoy it!

15 Reasons We Are Living In The Greatest Period Of World History.

1. Life Expectancy

In 1800, the US life expectancy was 39 years. In 1900, it was 49 years.  Today, it is 79 years. That means a child born today will experience four more decades of life than his ancestors. Wow.
