As cool as it is to be a D-I field hockey player at an Ivy League school, this athlete is more impressed with her kid sister. The teen is very talented and has earned her sister’s pride. She needs to add a harmonica neck holder to her Christmas list, though.

The harmonica creates sound by blowing or drawing air through the reed. The basic instrument used in Piano Man is a ten-hole harmonica in the key of C. The song only requires the use of holes 3, 4, 5, and 6, so it can be held in one place.

The player uses their tongue to seal off holes that they don’t want air to pass through. Most of the notes are double, meaning air passes through two holes at once. There is a version using single notes, but it isn’t as robust.

Blowing, drawing, and moving from holes 3 and 4 to 5 and 6 takes concentration. Doing that while also playing a piano with a complex two-handed melody and operating the foot pedal is incredible. For a 14-year-old, it is even more impressive.
