U.S. Navy Band’s Hilarious Medley Is The Christmas Comedy We All Need.

Everyone has their favorite Christmas song. From more playful tunes like Frosty the Snowman, to those that are deeply moving like Silent Night, the options are endless. So when a quartet of talented men took the stage for a Holiday performance, they decided to perform not one, not two, not three, but an entire song book’s worth of Christmas tunes all in one brilliant mash-up of a carol.

The United States Navy Band uploaded the video. It shows three men in uniform take the stage at Washington D.C.’s DAR Constitution Hall on Dec. 22, 2013. They announce that they call their group the Sideboys and that they’ll be performing their rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas”for the audience.

Except there’s just one problem: the fourth Sideboy, who is in charge of the lyric sheets, is still making his way up to the stage.

“We’re very sorry, we’d like to do our song from memory but we just can’t; it’s very challenging and difficult, as you’ll see. Unfortunately, the last member of our group right now is getting the music. As soon as he arrives we’ll begin,”announces one of the men.

Another Sideboy member, who has yellow markings on his sleeve, which indicate he is a Chief Petty Officer, realizes that the audience can’t simply sit in silence as they wait for their fourth member. He turns to the man to his right.

“Ben, I’ll need you to entertain these folks while I’m gone…Do something Christmasy.â€

Ben launches into a ridiculous performance entailing making strange noises with his hands, before he is quickly silenced by the Chief.

Soon, the fourth member runs in from the back of the large auditorium holding the sheet music. He trips while making his way up the stage’s stairs, and the papers go flying.

They’ve lost their order, but there’s no way to rearrange them at this point. After Ben gets accidentally hit in the nose and stuffs a strip of toilet paper up it to stop the supposed bleeding, they quartet attempt to begin their performance of “The 12 Days of Christmas.â€

It begins brilliantly, with the four voices melding together as perfectly as the flavors of a Christmas roast. They are powerful and pitch-perfect, and truly beautiful to listen to.

But then, when it’s time to sing about the fourth day of Christmas, two of the singers accidentally launch into the fifth day due to their disorganized lyrics, causing the entire song to launch into a stat of coordinated chaos.

The group stops in an attempt to get on the same page, literally, but soon the pairs end up on different verses once more. But that’s not all.

“The 12 Days of Christmas”soon launches into “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,”before returning back to the original song. But as the men continue to attempt to get their tune straight, pieces of “Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer,”“Little Drummer Boy,”“We Wish You A Merry Christmas,”“I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas,”and more get thrown into the mix.

The result is a still sonically pleasing yet hilariously confused mashup of the best Christmas songs out there.

The performance is funny, festive, and superbly entertaining. Share if you agree that it deserves the most appreciative of salutes!
