Wicked fever has taken over, and we’ve caught the bug. Whether you’re team Elphaba or team Glinda, one thing’s for sure, you can’t get enough of the hit soundtrack and Defying Gravity. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande took us all on a journey in the first installment of the Wicked franchise, and fans are already looking forward to Wicked: For Good in November. Many fans have taken a stab at singing Defying Gravity in their car, a karaoke bar, and some have been so brave as to perform in a talent show. A 10-year-old girl named Ava Dargin did, and her mom posted a video of her performance on TikTok. Not only did Ava win the competition, but she also won the hearts of millions, including Elphaba herself.

Ava Performed A Wicked Good Cover Of “Defying Gravity“
With 2.7 million views, it’s safe to say Ava is a viral sensation. She and her mom, Ravin Chestnut, had a chance to travel to New York City for an appearance on the Today Show to sing Defying Gravity.
“I used to sing to her as a baby, and she would mimic the words — it just came naturally,” Ravin said. “Ava would sing around the house or we’d sing together. One day, I found out her tune was there and it’s been improving over the years. Now, here we are.”
And while they stood in Rockefeller Center, Wicked star Cynthia Erivo got to hear Ava belt out Defying Gravity.
“Amazing!” Erivo said as the crowd cheered. “I’ve got goosebumps!”
Wicked fans agreed.
“Woooooww! She was incredible but what I love most is her confidence. They put her on the spot and she didn’t think twice! She went for it,” someone shared on Instagram.
“That young lady is amazing! Her presence, so young! Cynthia is a Queen for being so receptive and supportive,” another person wrote of the Defying Gravity performance.
