60mph Winds Sweep Small Dog Off Pier, Then Model Jumps To The Rescue.

What started out as a solemn occasion on an Australian pier suddenly took a turn for the dramatic.

Raden Soemawinata, was at Brighton Pier in Melbourne that day with his family, to scatter his grandmother’s ashes. Bibi, a Maltese-Shih Tzu mix, was walking in the same area with his owner, Sue Drummond, when winds of around 60 mph blew him right off the pier.

Fearing for her own safety, all Sue could do was stand there and watch Bibi struggle against the surging waves.

“I thought he was going to sink and then maybe I wouldn’t be able to find him,”Drummond said, “but I didn’t really want to hop in the water either because I wasn’t quite sure if I could make it to shore with a struggling dog.â€

That’s when Soemawinata jumped into action.

Taking off his pants — “I’m a part-time model, so getting into my jocks isn’t so different to what I do for work”— he climbed down the concrete pier and dove into the water after the struggling pup and ferried him back to safety.

Thank goodness Soemawinata was there that day (and that he isn’t bashful)!
