On Father’s Day, Dan and Maxi were enjoying some quality time with their young, twin daughters, Harper and Maxlow. The military family were finishing their meal at the Red Lobster when their waitress handed them the bill, paid in full, with the sweetest note scribbled on the back.

Maxi was so touched by the gesture that she took to facebook to show her thanks. The stranger’s act of kindness meant far more than they could have realized on a Father’s day that was more difficult than most.
Maxi penned the following note to her anonymous angels on Facebook:
“To the family in Red Lobster who sat across from us today. You never ask a question we never spoke a word. Yet you did something for us that we will never forget. When the waitress handed us your note the tears began to fall. To you we looked like just a family of 4 celebrating the most important man in our lives. Little did you know last year we celebrated as a family of 5.
You see this past year we lost one of our triplets! The holidays are always the hardest. Without knowing any of this you paid for our meal. You might never know our story or the impact of something so little could effect our lives. I’m writing you to thank you from the bottom of our hearts! I hope this post reaches you, so one day you might know that what might seemed like a small gesture of kindness to you, made celebrating my wonderful husband just a little bit easier this year!
After struggling with infertility, Dan and Maxi Cortez underwent one round of IVF. In a wonderful turn of events, the couple was blessed with triplets.

On May 27, 2015, Landon, Harper and Harlow were delivered via C-section. All three healthy babies went home together after three weeks in NICU.
Two weeks later, Landon began acting strange. Dan rushed him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. “From the time he was born he never closed his eyes,”Maxi said. “He just wanted to be awake all the time. It’s like he knew that he only had a short time.â€

Landon passed away at just seven weeks old and this was the family’s first Father’s Day without Him.
The unknown family’s act of kindness at Red Lobster, came to the Cortez’s at a time when they needed it most.
