“Young Sheldon” Star Valerie Mahaffey Has Lost Her Battle With Cancer At 71

Beloved Hollywood star Valerie Mahaffey passed away on May 30 at age 71 following a battle with cancer. Valerie spent nearly 50 years in show business, with notable performances in Northern Exposure, Desperate Housewives, and Young Sheldon. She had tremendous comedic timing and made dozens of appearances as a character actress. Valeria Mahaffey delivered laughs on Cheers, Seinfeld, and Frasier. Her husband, Joseph Kell, confirmed Valerie’s death to Variety. He shared a very simple and powerful statement.

“I have lost the love of my life, and America has lost one of its most endearing actresses. She will be missed,” he said.

According to Deadline, her daughter, Alice Richards, shared her heartache on Facebook.

“I don’t really have the words to say right now. Cancer sucks. I’ll look for you in all the fun moments of life. I know that’s where you’ll be,” she wrote.

Fans Paid Tribute To Valerie Mahaffey Following Her Death

The news of Valerie’s death quickly spread on social media, and fans shared their sadness.

“Oh man, Valerie Mahaffey was always one of the most underrated and fantastic character actresses around. She was in EVERYTHING! And no one did soft spoken, passive aggressive viciousness better! So Sad to hear she’s passed and only 71. RIP,” an X post reads.

This person agreed and loved watching Valerie perform. “Valerie Mahaffey was always JUST right no matter what she was working in. Always so memorable, talented. I can’t believe she was even 71 as that means she really was a part of my life watching things as long as I’ve been around. Grateful for her good work alwaysthey wrote.”

This Seinfeld fan paid tribute to Valerie and her hilarious performance as George Costanza’s girlfriend on the show. “A moment of silence, please, and one last trip to a mental hospital after getting dumped by George, then tossing out Jerry’s tax-audit paperwork, with the passing of Valerie’ Patrice’ Mahaffey.
