View from a distance of a group of duckling. They're gathered near a drop off to the water below

Ducks have waterproof feathers, webbed feet made to swim, and are able to dive as deep as 240 feet. In other words, these adorable birds were, quite literally, made for the water. So, when a group of ducklings hesitated to join their mom in the nearby water, it likely wasn’t because they were afraid of the water. Instead, these sweet ducklings were afraid of the jump required to reach the water.

Once the first duckling mustered up the courage to leap into the water, it became a lot easier for most of the others to follow. In the blink of an eye, the large group turned into three remaining ducklings! These last three were much more hesitant than the others, but with some encouragement from the nearby crowd, they were able to join the rest of their family!

“Everyone was giddy and we all felt so united,” Abigail Decter, the woman who shared this video recalls. “It was a beautiful moment watching everyone come together to appreciate this milestone for the ducklings.”

It’s not uncommon for people to go out of their way in order to help our little duck friends. For example, these women went above and beyond to rescue ducklings who were trapped in a sewer.
