We all fell in love with Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump and more than 30 years later, he sat back on the bench with a box of chocolates. This time, Tom’s son, Chet Hanks, plays Forrest in the video for You Better Run, a song by his band, Something Out West. During the video, several people sit next to Chet as Forrest in a grey suit and he offers him chocolates, just like his dad did in the movie. But this time, Tom is a guest on the bench waiting for the bus.

Seeing Tom Hanks In A Familiar “Forrest Gump” Scene Gave Fans The Feels

Something Out West shared the video on YouTube. And while fans loved the song, they really enjoyed seeing the tender father/son moment. They were quick to comment about how happy they were to see Tom Hanks and Chet Hanks in a Forrest Gump world.

One fan wrote of Tom, “Proof that a father will do literally anything for their kids.”

This person got a tad misty watching, “I’m genuinely tearing up. Just seeing Chet and Tom makes me so happy. God bless this family. If only they knew how much they make people happy.”

This person agreed, “This seems fitting for Chet. I don’t follow country. Came here after seeing a write-up about him and his dad a few minutes ago. Good to see them smiling and embracing. Bonus… I like this song.”

Another Chet Hanks fan loved this video but hoped the band wouldn’t be overshadowed by Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump fame. “Chet- It IS your time to shine. Overshadowed for far too long- this plus great acting in Running Point! YOU are a STAR.”
