Super Sleepy Golden Retriever Takes Way Too Long To Wake Up When Mom Wiggles His Ears

Left image shows dog owner wiggling her sleepy dog's ears like an elephant. Right image shows the same golden retriever who won't wake up as his Mom does the "Stomp" part of a TikTok trend.

If you’re ready for another annoyingly cute social media trend, we have just the ticket for you. The elephant trend is to dance and wiggle your ears like an elephant. The music is the Elephant Song from Gracie’s Corner. The original trend was for human participation, but everyone online has determined that making dogs and other animals dance to this popular children’s song is more fun. Enter Reef, the golden retriever, and his inability to wake up.

Reef’s mom tried to get the dog excited about the dance. Reef wanted no part of the silliness. He just wanted to sleep. She tried moving his large, fluffy head, flopping his ears, and even miming a “stomp” with his front paws. The golden retriever offered a few disgruntled looks, definitely not wanting to wake up.

As if the first attempt wasn’t bad enough, Reef’s mom decided to try again the next day. Her efforts had the same energy as the day before. Absolutely zero get-up-and-go was available for this trend.

The song comes from a YouTube animated sing-along series named Gracie’s Corner, created in 2020 by Graceyn Hollingsworth and her father, Dr. Javoris Hollingsworth. It is designed to increase representation and inclusivity. The songs are light and lively, with catchy earworm tunes, although not as bad as Baby Shark or Cocomelon.

Apparently, making elephant ears with a Great Dane gives them the zoomies. These two golden retrievers seemed happy for the attention, if not the ear-wiggling. This cow was unimpressed. This Afghan Hound was the most pliable of the dogs, but her diva expression said, “You are taking me to the groomer now.”
