Smiley the golden retriever was born without his eyes. It’s a rare condition that only occurs a handful of times a year, but unfortunately happened to this sweet puppy.
Time and time again, the lovable pooch was discounted in peoples’ minds because of his deformity. But now he’s showing people all over the world with a little hard work, dedication -and a treat or two- that anything’s possible.
And it’s astounding what he’s accomplishing.
His owner and rescuer, Joanne, knew the special little guy needed a forever home, but since no one else would take the disabled pup, she trained Smiley to be a certified child-therapy dog.
Now Smiley spends his days with Joanne visiting hospitals and classrooms to help children with special needs overcome their adversities.
