The best artists are those who keep their eyes open for inspiration everywhere they go. It may take conscious effort at first but, after a while, it becomes second nature. Jeffrey Meszaros is the perfect example of what can happen when you reach this point. In 2008, he worked as a bartender. Naturally, part of his job included throwing away lots of beer bottle caps. In doing so, however, Jeffrey began to take note of their beautiful, varied colors.

According to Jeffrey’s website, he eventually thought that, perhaps, “something cool can be done with these.” At that time, he didn’t have any concrete ideas. But not all creative ideas are born fully fleshed out, so he sat with this thought for a while. Still, he began to save them, imagining they could be used for some type of mosaic. Eventually, these bottle caps were used to create breathtaking art. See for yourself in the viral video below!

Reaching this point wasn’t simple. It took many tries for Jeffrey to perfect his technique. For starters, the shape of the bottle caps aren’t always ideal for his vision. So, he learned how to flatten them in a way that allows them to be layered. Now, what started out as a mere idea has changed Jeffrey’s life entirely.

What started out as a mere idea has changed Jeffrey’s life entirely. He completed his first bottle cap piece in 2014 and, since then, has created over 150 unique pieces that can be found all over the world. He sells to individuals, but he also does commercial work, too.

The art itself is gorgeous, of course. But that’s not the only reason to admire Jeffrey’s work. With every piece he makes, he’s making a positive impact on the environment. In fact, over 350,000 bottle caps have been diverted from landfills because of him!
