When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down from their royal duties and move to California, the decision caused tension in the ranks. Many speculated about why they opted to leave. Queen Elizabeth released a statement about the couple and their son, Archie, in 2020, expressing compassion for their choice.

“Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved members of my family. I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life,” Queen Elizabeth said.
But it seems Prince William doesn’t share his late grandmother’s affection for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Prince William Reportedly Plans To Strip Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Of Their Royal Titles For Good
An insider told The Daily Beast that Prince William intends to bar Harry and Meghan from using the HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) once he becomes king. Per the source, Meghan sent a gift basket to Jamie Kern Liam, signed, “With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.” Her team claims it is appropriate.
“Harry and Meghan retain their HRH titles; however, by agreement, they do not use them for commercial purposes. While they do not publicly use ‘HRH,’ this was a personal gift, and their titles remain,” a source shared.
But a former courtier claims the interpretation is “complete rubbish.” And the couple is not to use HRH in any capacity. Per an official statement, “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”
A friend of Prince William told The Daily Beast that his tolerance for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry is zero. And when he’s king, he will let them know. “Charles has completely lost control. It’s apparent that Harry and Meghan have every intention of making his final years a misery, just as he feared they would. Meghan using her HRH exposes how weak and enfeebled he is. She knows he won’t do anything. There is no way King William will stand for this. The titles will simply be removed when he is king. A way will be found.”
