NASCAR is a wildly popular sport, particularly within the United States. With its season running from February to November, it still manages to garner millions of viewers every race. Plus, it has enough of a cultural impact that even those of us who have never seen a single race are quite familiar with it. Viral Video Taken at the Talladega Superspeedway Gives a Mind-Blowing Perspective of the Popular NASCAR Track.
To those of us who aren’t NACAR fans, having the roads at such a steep angle may seem like a challenge. On the contrary, the steepness is actually said to help keep the drivers safer. Plus, it helps them go even faster!
When NASCAR first got started, the tracks were much flatter. For example, the Martinsville and Occoneechee Speedways were at a 12-degree angle. Drivers qualified at speeds more than 140 mph. Today, however, that speed is 200 and more. Essentially, this is because the curves of a steeper road make it easier, and safer, for the drivers to turn. How cool is that!?
