Nurse Brings “Hallway Karaoke” To Assisted Living Home To Cheer Up Residents.

When visitors aren’t allowed in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, things can get lonely.

That’s why healthcare workers around the world are going out of their way to create fun, enriching activities for their residents during the COVID-19 quarantine. As an LPN at Magnolia Manors in Greenwood, South Carolina, Marijayne Wells is doing her part to keep everyone smiling.

Marijayne and her fellow staff members have started doing “Hallway Karaoke” to entertain the seniors in their care. Each employee takes a turn at the microphone and sings in the hallway so everyone can get in on the fun.

In a recent video uploaded to their Facebook page, Marijayne performs a soulful rendition of Etta James’ “At Last” that is tugging at the world’s heartstrings!

The nurse has a fantastic voice, and we can hear her coworkers and residents cheering her on as she passionately belts out the familiar lyrics.

As it turns out, the staff members enjoy Hallway Karaoke as much as their patients do! Even better, the program has another goal. They always select classic songs that might trigger happy memories for their residents.

“Some of them don’t even smile,” Marijayne said. “But it’s the memories that I think are the most important thing here. The memories like, ‘Oh I remember that,’ or ‘I remember her,’ and I think that’s my biggest goal as a nurse.”

What a beautiful way to keep these seniors engaged when they’re likely missing their loved ones more than ever. We’re so thankful for dedicated healthcare workers like these!
