CMT holds an annual awards show for country singers, but it had to be canceled this year because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. So they hosted a “Celebrate Our Heroes” special instead, where artists came together to share stories and perform from home in honor of the countless essential workers who are keeping us safe.
The special included appearances by Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Sam Hunt, and several other celebrities. But our favorite virtual masterpiece was Kane Brown’s “Stand By Me” cover. During the show’s finale, he sat alone on a stool and flawlessly sang every note with enough power to send shivers down our spine.
