It can’t be easy to be the daughter of the President of the United States and grow up under a microscope. But somehow, people like Jenna Bush Hager came out on the other side as a tremendous success. Jenna now hosts Jenna and Friends on Today and often shares personal anecdotes about her life as a mom and as the daughter of former President George W. Bush. Since his time out of office, George has seen his girls, Jenna and twin sister Barbara Bush, marry and become mothers. He’s been upgraded to a grandfather, lovingly referred to as Jefe. George W. Bush Keeps His Family Grounded
Not only is he funny and a talented painter, but George W. Bush also helps keep Jenna’s head in the right space. She once told Hoda Kotb on Today about her dad’s incredible ability to say the right thing at exactly the right time. Jenna said she struggled with the transition to motherhood, and her dad knew just what to say.
“I’ll never forget when I was working here. I was doing something, and I was kind of frustrated because jobs can be frustrating. This business is kind of tricky, and I was upset,” she said.
Jenna explained she spilled her guts to her mom, Laura Bush, but George W. Bush couldn’t help himself and wanted to impart a bit of parental wisdom to his girl.
“So I got a text from my dad that was like, ‘Mom tells me you’re feeling kind of bummed out. Here’s the thing. This is what matters.’ And he just sent me a baby picture of Mila. I had just become a mom,” she continued. “And I started weeping. I was like, ‘He’s totally right.’”
