Timid Rescue Dog Finds Sweetest Way To Tell Foster Dad He Needs Some Extra Love.

Every dog wants to be loved, even those that have never known a kind hand.

When Francesca Negreanu and Charles Specht, her boyfriend, decided to foster through a local shelter in Portland, Oregon, they had no idea how rewarding the experience would be. But they’re the reason a timid rescue pup is starting to trust humans again!

After joining Street Saavy Dog Rescue’s foster program, the couple welcomed Homer into their care. The poor pup fears many things, including simply looking at Francesca and Charles.

“We don’t know the full story, but he was rescued from somewhere in Texas, where he was chained to a tree for 2+ years,” Francesca said. “He was healing for four months before he came to our house. We are his first foster family.”

Despite his difficult past, Homer is opening up more and more each day! Recently, he even figured out how to let his foster parents know when he needs some extra love.

Francesca shared an adorable video, writing, “He is a little timid and won’t look at you, but he knows how to ask for more scratchies and love.”

In the clip, we see Charles sitting next to Homer, who keeps his head turned away.

Charles strokes his fur for a few moments, then stops. That’s when Homer slowly raises a paw and taps Charles’ leg. While the pup still doesn’t feel comfortable looking at Charles, his message is loud and clear: more pets, please!

This small step forward is everything the couple could have asked for! They’re thrilled to see Homer coming out of his shell and have no doubt he’ll find a forever family soon.

Until then, he’ll stay with them and enjoy all the pets and snuggles they can give!
