Golden Retriever And His Stuffie
PEOPLE told the story of how Gumbo and his owner met. Hana Brickman was in nursing school and volunteered to train service dogs. She was matched with Gumbo, but this loveable pup failed the program. She said, “He was not serious enough.”
Rather than part with the adorable golden retriever, Hana decided to adopt him herself. The pair have been inseparable ever since—almost as inseparable as him and his stuffie. The true irony of the dynamic golden retriever duo is that the stuffie was not meant for Gumbo.
Hana mentioned, “It wasn’t actually for him. It was meant to be for me.” However, after Hana saw how attached Gumbo became to the stuffed animal, she let him keep it.
Gumbo And Shrimp Go Everywhere Together
Whether it is relaxing in their own backyard or going for an exotic hike, this golden retriever and his stuffie are always together. The infatuation started shortly after Hana purchased the stuffed animal. She mentioned how, although it was meant for her, once Gumbo claimed it by drooling on it she let him have it.
He began showing it off to guests when they came over for visits. Next, the stuffed animal joined them on all of their outdoor adventures. Gumbo still shares his stuffie with everyone he encounters on his hikes. The pair got so popular that Hana let Gumbo’s Instagram followers name the stuffie.
She held a contest for the name, and Shrimp was the winning name. Alas, @gumbowithshrimp was born. Now, people can watch this pair of golden retrievers go on all sorts of adventures together. The duo even went to Disney together!
While Shrimp may need the occasional surgery and may have gotten lost a time or two, the pair always ends up back together.
